The Army & Navy cocktail has multiple origin stories, with one account linking its creation to honor the historic football game between the United States military and naval academies. Another narrative ties it to The Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C., where the cocktail gained popularity alongside the Daiquiri. Despite its unclear beginnings, the cocktail, featuring gin, lemon juice, and orgeat, was documented in David Embury's book in 1948, The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks.
